A prominent financial services institution providing capital markets expertise, private banking services, and asset management for over 100 years.
The client had outgrown their legacy data platforms, causing operational challenges that impacted day-to-day productivity and the ability to grow their business:
Maintenance and upgrades were prohibitively complex and problematic
Data was increasingly siloed as those systems aged and presented operational risks
Slow response to client opportunities inhibited the effectiveness of business development
Inaccessible data prevented relationship managers from delivering the desired level of service and responsiveness to client requests
The client came to Grandview Analytics with a desire to improve their data management capabilities and modernize their technology. Their primary goal was to centralize all investment data in a singular location, managed through a robust governance framework, and distributed to users with enhanced self-service access.
Grandview Analytics was engaged to shape the vision for a target operating model, provide recommendations for potential platform upgrades, and design a roadmap. They prioritized adding value early in the transformation process, notching quick wins toward key goals.
Through rigorous stakeholder interviews across all functional teams, we cataloged all pain points and process gaps, informing the business requirements for a target operating model.
The Grandview team deconstructed multiple desktop R scripts to distill necessary business logic and current data sourcing methodologies.
We analyzed data quality to identify problematic, incomplete, inconsistent, and out-of-tolerance data points within the current architecture. These exceptions were slated as initial governance discussions to establish data integrity rules.
Grandview designed a data governance framework and workflow mechanism and established the recommended officers and members for an effective data governance committee. From there, the team built the schematic to enable both intake to the governance workflow and communication of governance activities to the organization. Finally, we integrated data integrity KPIs into the governance design.
Upon completing the current state assessment and data governance framework, Grandview developed a multi-phase program roadmap for the maturation of the firm’s data management capabilities. The roadmap achieved quick wins in early project phases, adding value early and establishing momentum to enable a more complex and strategic delivery in subsequent phases.
