Insurance holding company implements OMS to scale and streamlines operations

Client Profile

An insurance holding company partnering with leading insurers and reinsurers to provide world-class products and services to middle market consumers.

Business Situation

This client successfully grew its asset base by nearly 3x within 18 months through a strategy that combined the acquisition of insurance and reinsurance companies with the launch of an internal asset management business.

To support the internal asset management business, the client needed a more robust in-house investment management solution. This new system would streamline investment operations and provide enhanced tools to the front office for their investment decision processes.

After evaluating available options, the client decided to upgrade from its existing investment technology risk solution to an enterprise OMS instance. Grandview was hired to manage the implementation in an aggressive seven-month timeline to meet the client’s business goals.

Grandview’s Role

  • Provided project management and business analysis on behalf of the client, leveraging industry experience and platform subject matter expertise, to accelerate the implementation and preserve limited client resources for managing business-as-usual (BAU) activities
  • Performed in-depth business process reviews to understand and document current workflows, pain points, opportunities, and future-state requirements
  • In partnership with vendors, and in collaboration with client asset servicing providers, Grandview managed and coordinated activities across multiple implementation channels, including risk reporting, compliance, interface development, data conversion, system configuration, user acceptance training, parallel testing, and post-go-live support.
  • Provided integration services and customized automated solutions to ensure backwards-compatibility and interoperability with other workflows and technologies used by internal functions including Rivvit, their data management and reporting software
  • Provided workflow documentation for all newly designed workflows for the client’s internal procedure manuals

Results

  • The OMS platform was successfully launched on time with more than 5,250 unique assets and 158 portfolios migrated to the new instance of the OMS platform.
  • Rivvit was reconfigured to support new data sources from each vendor in a matter of weeks, without disrupting the monthly reporting cycle.
  • Optimized workflows designed by Grandview and the client resulted in greater operational control and collaboration between teams.
